Production Stories: The silver quilted curtain
Something a little bit different today from our production story corner. This project was a commission from Studio Naama to create a silver and orange curtain for a utility room, replacing a more traditional pocket door in a tight space.
We worked with heat-reflecting silver fabric and an orange muslin to create a curtain, which was manufactured like one of our quilts. To prevent the two fabrics from becoming baggy, we quilted the layers together with rows of machine stitching, which were designed to sit in the folds of the curtain, making them invisible. We then bound the edges of the curtain with an extra-wide binding to emphasise the mitred corners and create a flash of colour when the curtain is viewed from the outside of the room.
The curtain measured 1320 x 1850mm and is designed to sit in line with the top of the skirting board in the hallway.
Below are some images of the curtain in production in the studio.
