ZhongZheng ZZ Quilt
An orange, pink and rust linen and organic wool quilt inspired by an architectural drawing made during a trip to Taiwan. This quilt was handmade by Georgia in the studio and has been hand-quilted with sashiko thread.
Story
During the first lockdown of 2020, I distracted myself from the world by drawing, explicitly drawing from imagery I collected when I left the country to visit a friend in Taiwan. I started with accurate architectural drawings, which became looser, and began to focus on the pattern of the buildings. Eventually, I began working with continuous line drawing, which led me to the painting that became this quilt.
Everything starts as a drawing; the challenge is to turn a tiny painting into something filled with life that can wrap someone up and keep them warm. The ZZ quilt took over thirty hours to complete and will provide 30 years of comfort.

This quilt took over thirty hours to complete and will be exhibited in 2022 as part of a Design Nation exhibition.
Sustainability
It is handmade from European linen and organic wool wadding. Linen requires fewer (often no) pesticides, less water and less processing than cotton. It can be grown in colder climates, so there are fewer miles to travel, and it is very hard-wearing so that it will last a lifetime.
Packaging
This quilt will arrive in a branded presentation box with acid-free tissue paper.
