The Crystal Palace quilt was commissioned as a gift inspired by the shapes and proportions in Joseph Paxton’s architecture.

The quilt took inspiration from the arches and geometry in glasshouses designed by Paxton, in particular The Crystal Palace which hosted the Great Exhibition in Hyde Park in 1851. The impressive cast iron and plate glass structure was moved to the South East London neighbourhood that was renamed Crystal Palace after the landmark and stood there until 1936.

Featuring a warm palette of rusts, reds, pink and natural linen. A series of arches anchor the centre of the quilt with joyful colours and a nod to a sunset scene. This is a completely unique piece made from designer dead stock materials. The quilt top is made from linen & cotton, filled with a lightweight wool wadding and has been hand quilted.
